Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage

scenic monumental beauty

In 2009, the Dolomites were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for their “monumental scenic beauty” and “geological and geomorphological significance”, the highest recognition in the world for a natural site.

The Geisler Peaks in the Puez-Odle Nature Reserve are among the most beautiful and valuable mountains in the world. The Geisler Peaks are both the landmark and the jewel of the Funes/Villnöss Valley. Due to their unmistakable profile, they are considered the most beautiful and magnificent formation in the Dolomites, especially on a beautiful September day with the alpenglow in all its glory. The peaks rise high above the dark forests, with glowing walls, peaks and gorges. They seem to be bathed in radiant gold before they fade in the sunset.
